BBI staff get creative in the kitchen and it's all for charity
Staff at Bradford & Bingley International (BBI) had the chance to show off their artistic and culinary skills recently as part of the Bank's Six Nations Rugby Tournament fund-raising activities.
"The Six Nations Tournament is such a big event in the sporting calendar; even if you're not a big fan of rugby you can't help but get caught up in the drama and excitement, so we thought it would be a great opportunity for us to use our team-working skills to raise money for local charities." Said Bradford & Bingley International's Community Affairs Manager, George Campbell.
Representing each of the Six Nations countries, the BBI business teams had to put their creative and culinary talents to the test by decorating their working areas and cooking a meal for the entire workforce in the style of their adoptive country.
Competition was fierce, as George Campbell explains: "The teams worked really hard to decorate their working areas and there were some really imaginative ideas. However, when it came to the cookery section of the competition everyone wanted to win and there were some very ambitious dishes - the French team even included frog's legs on their menu!"
The points awarded were converted into monetary prizes, which the winning teams donated to the charity of their choice. The Marketing and I.T. teams donated their combined £400 prize money to Rebecca House, whilst the Retail Sales team awarded their prize of £300 to the Mayor's Charity Appeal.
Commenting on the initiative, Managing Director John Pearson said: "The competition was a great success, everyone got into the spirit of things and worked as a team and I'm delighted with the outcome."
